Common questions about ENS App notifications. To set them up, see Notifications and expiry alerts.
Not getting alerts
Why does the bell do nothing when I select it?
You haven't signed in with your wallet. Sign in first; then the bell works.
Why isn't my email getting notifications?
The Email row must read Verified in green; nothing sends while it is still Pending. The matching choice under Preferences must be on and saved with SAVE PREFERENCES; verifying alone is not enough. And look in your spam folder.
Why don't I get browser notifications?
Browser Notifications must be enabled on the settings page, with its toggle on. Your browser must allow notifications for the ENS App (check its site settings if you blocked the prompt). And the matching choice under Preferences must be on and saved with SAVE PREFERENCES.
Why can't I save my preferences?
You can't save preferences until at least one contact method is verified. Verify your email, connect Telegram or enable browser notifications, then select SAVE PREFERENCES again.
Why does the ENS App ask me to sign when my wallet is already connected?
Connecting your wallet doesn't prove it is yours. Signing (Sign-In with Ethereum, no gas) does, so the ENS App can load your saved settings and include your favourites, not only the names you own.
Choosing what you get
Can I get only expiry alerts by email or Telegram?
Yes. Under Preferences, choose Name Expiry (and Favourites for saved names), leave ENS Labs Updates off, then select SAVE PREFERENCES. Inside the ENS App you still see all three.
Can I get alerts for a name I don't own?
Yes. Signed in with your wallet, save the name to your favourites with the heart icon on its profile page. Its alerts then show inside the ENS App, with Smart Sessions on. To get them by email, Telegram or browser push too, choose Favourites under Preferences and select SAVE PREFERENCES.
Do I need to upgrade my name to get expiry alerts?
No. Most names not yet upgraded to ENSv2 already get expiry alerts.
Do subnames get expiry alerts?
No. Expiry alerts cover .eth names, not subnames.
Why do I see alerts in the ENS App but not by email?
Inside the ENS App you always see all three kinds, under the bell; you can't switch them off, and seeing them needs Smart Sessions on (see Connect a wallet). Email, Telegram and browser push send only the ones you choose under Preferences. Email and Telegram alerts arrive whether or not Smart Sessions is on.
Will my email or Telegram show on my ENS profile?
No. The email address and Telegram account you add for notifications never show on your ENS profile.
Managing your settings
How do I change my settings later?
Select the bell, then the cog, or your address at the top right → Notifications → Settings. Change what you want under Preferences, then select SAVE PREFERENCES.
How do I remove an email or Telegram, or resend the email check?
To remove an email, open the … menu on the Email row, pick Remove and confirm. While an address is still Pending, the same menu offers Resend Verification.
To remove Telegram, select the × on your handle and confirm.
Where do I read my notifications?
In the Inbox: open it from the bell, or your address at the top right → Notifications → Inbox. Clear the lot with Mark all as read.
Telegram
What happens when I connect Telegram?
Open Add more contact methods, select Connect Telegram and sign in on Telegram's own page (oauth.telegram.org, not ENS). When Telegram asks, allow the bot, @ens_notifications_bot, to send you messages, then go back to the ENS App.
What if Telegram sign-in doesn't finish?
Go back to the ENS App and select Connect Telegram again.
Why does my Telegram show Bot access needed?
The notification bot can't message you yet, so alerts can't reach you. Select Reconnect Telegram and allow the bot to send you messages.
