Information about reclaim.ens.domains

Updated over a week ago

Nearly 280k names were released on 2nd August 2020, allowing users to reclaim the deposit which was put during the original auction when ENS launched back in 2017.

These deposits (deed) belong to the original name owners and can be withdrawn at any time. There are still nearly 130k deeds left with 20k ETH deposited.

We created a dedicated site or people to easily search and claim their deposits back.

Unclaimed Deposit Search

Search by address

You can search via Ethereum address, or .eth name.

  • No results found returns when there is no deed to claim on a name

  • Exact match returns when there is a deed to claim on a name

  • All claimable deposits returns when there are deeds to claim from an address.

Unlike normal ENS lookup, this will search the owner address at the time of Deed

How to Get Back an Old .eth Name Deposit

1. Connect Wallet

Connect your wallet to automatically fill in your Ethereum address, and show you how many deposits you still have.

  • Click on Prepare to initiate an onchain transaction to reclaim your Name Deposit.

2. Click Prepare

Click prepare on the selected name, then confirm onchain. Once the transaction is completed, the name deposit will have been sent to your wallet.

The deed contract is only redeemable by the owner, and so we cannot write a wrapper contract to batch them up.

Subgraph

If you would like to know more, we have the ENS reclaim deposit subgraph for query.
