About Project Subnames

Learn how to register, manage, and get support for project subnames like base.eth, linea.eth, and uni.eth

Updated over a week ago

Good to Know

  • Project subnames (e.g. yourname.base.eth, yourname.uni.eth) are managed by the project, not through the ENS App

  • You register, renew, and manage project subnames through the project's own platform

  • You can set a project subname as your Primary Name using the ENS App or primary.ens.domains

  • For support with a project subname, contact the project directly — ENS support cannot manage project-issued subnames

  • Want full control? Register your own .eth name to manage everything through the ENS App

What are Project Subnames?

Projects like base.eth, uni.eth, linea.eth, celo.eth, and gemini.eth let you get custom ENS subnames. These projects run their own registration systems—you won't use the ENS App to get or manage them.

Key Things to Know

If you have a project subname, here's what you need to know:

1. You register and renew through the project's platform.

Many project run their own registration and renewal system—you can't use the ENS App for these tasks.

2. You can't manage all project subnames in the ENS App.

Use the project's own interface to update records, edit your profile, or renew your subname. Always check with the project for their supported tools.

3. You can set your project subname as your Primary Name.

Set your project subname as your Primary ENS name on Ethereum using the ENS App. See How to Set a Primary Name.

4. Contact the project directly for support.

Get help with your project subname through the project's support channels. Most projects also offer FAQs or help documentation on their websites.

Want Full Control Through the ENS App?

Register your own .eth name to get full control: set profile records, create subnames, transfer ownership, and manage everything through the ENS App.

After registering a .eth name, you can create and manage custom subnames, update your profile records, and more.

See How to Register a .eth Name to get started.
