About Project Subnames (like base.eth, linea.eth, uni.eth)

Some web3 projects now offer their own custom ENS subnames – like those from base.eth, uni.eth, or linea.eth.

If you’ve received a subname from a project, here’s what to know:

  • Register through their site or app
Each project handles subname registrations via its own platform.

  • Management may not be available via the ENS App
In many cases, project subnames are managed exclusively through the project’s own interface. This means you may not be able to update records or renew the name via the ENS App. Always check with the project for supported tools.

  • Set as Primary Name
You can still set your project subname as your primary ENS name via the ENS App. See: How to Set as Primary Name

  • Support
For help, contact the project directly through their support channels. Most also offer FAQs or help docs on their websites.

Want Full ENS Features?

If you want full control – including the ability to set records, create subnames, transfer ownership, and manage everything through the ENS App – you can register your own .eth name.

Once you’ve registered a .eth name, you can also create and manage your own custom subnames.
