Good to Know
Only the Owner can see and use the Send button.
Sending a name updates the ETH Address, Manager (for unwrapped names), and Owner to a new address in a single flow.
Each role change requires its own transaction, processed in order: ETH Address β Manager β Owner.
If the current Owner address differs from the Manager or ETH Address, only the Owner role will transfer - the others remain unchanged.
These are gas-only transactions requiring ETH on Ethereum Mainnet.
Note: The ENS App currently supports management of .eth names and their onchain (Ethereum) subnames only. Offchain subnames and subnames from specific projects on L2s (for example, subnames such as .base.eth) use their own custom contracts and frontends, and should be managed through those platforms.
Note: To assign the ETH Address, Manager, and Owner roles to different wallet addresses, use the Edit Roles button instead.

Understanding ENS Roles
Role | Description |
Owner | The wallet that holds the ENS name NFT. Has full control over the name, including the ability to transfer it and change manager. |
Manager | The wallet authorised to edit records Can update profile information. Can transfer manager, but cannot transfer owner. |
ETH Address | The wallet address the ENS name points to. Funds sent to the name are received at this address. |
Common Questions
Why don't I have a manager?
Names wrapped in the Name Wrapper do not have a separate Manager field. For wrapped names, the traditional Manager role is merged into the Owner role on the ERC-1155 token contract. See Name Wrapper Overview. Note that subnames work differently - they have only a Manager role and no Owner role.
What's the difference between Send and Edit Roles?
Send is designed for transferring a name to a new wallet, updating all applicable roles to the same address in one flow. Edit Roles allows you to assign each role (Owner, Manager, ETH Address) to different wallet addresses independently.
Why weren't all three roles updated?
The Send function only updates roles that are currently set to the Owner's address. If your Manager or ETH Address is already set to a different wallet, those roles won't be changed. Use Edit Roles to update them separately.
What does Reset Profile do?
Enabling Reset Profile clears all records associated with the name (wallet addresses, social handles, avatar, etc.). This is useful when transferring to someone who wants a clean slate, or when you don't want your personal information attached to the name after transfer.
