Fix outdated ENS info tied to OpenSea's NFT metadata

ENS updates appear instantly in the ENS App but can take hours on OpenSea. Here's how to force a metadata refresh and fix outdated data.

Updated today

ENS name updates happen instantly in the ENS App. However, third-party platforms such as OpenSea – or services that rely on OpenSea’s NFT metadata, such as MetaMask wallet – may take longer to reflect changes. You might see:

  • Sync delays

  • Outdated name records and expiry dates

  • Expired or unregistered names showing incorrect ownership

  • Newly registered names not appearing or showing as invalid

Different platform sync blockchain data differently, which causes discrepancies and delays. Some platforms let you force an immediate refresh.

How to Refresh Metadata on OpenSea

Force OpenSea to update your ENS name:

  1. Go to your ENS name on OpenSea

  2. Select the 3-dots (top right hand corner)

  3. Click "Refresh Metadata"

Updates usually appear within minutes, but OpenSea's cache can take up to a few hours to refresh.

Still Not Updated?

  • Give it some time - OpenSea's cache can be slow to update

  • After 24 hours, contact OpenSea's Help Center. See OpenSea Support contacts

  • OpenSea runs their platform independently, so contact their support team for persistent issues
