How can I get and manage a linea.eth subname?

ENS names from Linea

Updated this week

linea.eth subnames from Linea

Linea offers personalised ENS subnames under the linea.eth subname. These subnames allow you to have readable, memorable identifiers tied to your wallet address.

Linea has become the first zkEVM Layer 2 to adopt the EIP-3668 standard in production, operating ENS with lower gas costs and improved interoperability. Users can switch their wallet address to a human-readable domain, while developers can use CCIP Read (ERC-3668) for cross-chain data retrieval. Linea incorporates proof of humanity as part of their registration flow & requirements. Find out more on blog.ens.domains/post/ens-lands-on-linea

How to Register your linea.eth Subname

Visit names.linea.build to register your subname. Follow their provided registration process (see support.linea.build/explore/ens)

Managing your linea.eth Subname

Subnames under linea.eth are managed exclusively via the project's own frontend and registration flow. Because of this custom setup:

  • ENS App cannot be used to manage these names directly.

  • Custom configurations and records are handled exclusively via the names.linea.build platform.

Support and Issues

For assistance with registration, renewal, name management, or troubleshooting, contact Linea Support directly. (See Linea Help Centre)

Pricing

Any Pricing and renewal terms are set by Linea. Visit names.linea.build for current pricing and renewal details.

Setting your Subname as your Primary ENS Name

Although managed externally, your linea.eth subname can be set as your primary ENS name via the ENS App:

  • Connect your wallet to the ENS App.

  • Ensure you're on Mainnet Ethereum.

  • Search your subname and select it.

  • Under the Profile tab, click Select As Primary Name.

  • Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Refer to the ENS guide on How to Set Primary Name.

Register your own .eth name

Having a linea.eth subname doesn't prevent you from registering your own standalone .eth domain. Once you have your .eth name, you can also create and manage your own custom subnames.
