Using ENS to Send Assets

Simplify transactions with an ENS

Updated over a week ago

ENS makes it easier to send assets by replacing long wallet addresses with simple, human-readable names like yourname.eth.

How It Works

When you add wallet or contract addresses to your ENS name, it acts as an alias. Instead of copying and pasting a hexadecimal address, anyone can send crypto or assets to your name instead. The ENS protocol resolves the name to that linked wallet address.

For example, sending to yourname.eth is functionally the same as sending to 0x7ec..., but far easier and less error-prone.

Simply type the ENS name into the 'send to' / 'recipient' field

You can set different addresses for over 200 blockchains, allowing ENS to work across the broader blockchain ecosystem.

Benefits

  • Simplified transfers – Reduces the risk of copy-paste errors.

  • Custom identity – Choose a name that reflects your identity or brand.

  • Interoperability – names work across supported applications in not just the the Ethereum ecosystem, but multichain ecosystem.

How to Get Started

  1. Register a name: Search for and register your .eth name via the ENS App.
See How to Register a .eth name

  2. Set Your Address: Add your multichain addresses and other records to your name.
    See How to Edit Profile

That's it: See your profile on the ENS App, and test your name in any supported app or wallet. Bonus: Set your Primary Name
