How to Send an ENS name

Transfer an ENS name with "Send" button

Updated over a month ago

The Send button allows a name owner to send an ENS name to a different wallet address.

Number of onchain transactions

2-3

The send flow will update these three roles to the new address, in the following order:

  • the ETH record,

  • the Manager (for unwrapped names)

  • the Owner

That new address will then own the name, and the name will resolve (i.e. point to) that address.

To individually assign ETH address, Manager & Owner roles, to one, or different, wallet addresses, instead use the Edit Roles button also located in the Ownership-tab.

What are Owner, Manager and ETH Address?

Owner: The owner of the ENS name - the wallet that hold the ENS name NFT.
Manager: The manager of records - the wallet allowed to make changes to its records (but not transfer the name)
ETH Address:The wallet address the ENS name points to - where funds sent to a name are received.

Why don't I have a manager?

Names wrapped in the name wrapper do not have manager. Names registered via app.ens.domains are automatically wrapped. More information here.
