Nothing renews a .eth name for you, and names registered at different times expire at different times. In ENS Explorer, open your address page: its Names list shows every name with its expiry date, so you can renew the ones closest to expiry.
Good to know
The Names list shows every name your address is linked to, and its Roles column says how: Owner, Manager (ENSv1 names only), Role holder or Former owner. Names in another of your wallets show on that wallet's address page.
Anyone can renew any
.ethname, and renewing never changes who owns it.You pay for a renewal, and its network fee (gas), in USDC.
Get expiry alerts
The ENS App can alert you 30, 7 and 1 day before a name expires, by email, Telegram or browser notification. See Notifications and expiry alerts.
Give yourself fewer dates to watch
Line your names up on one expiry date. Renew each name to the date you want, then renew them together from then on. See Renew several names at once.
Renew for several years at once. Longer terms cost less per year (see Pricing, fees and multi-year discounts), and you go years between decisions instead of months.
If you miss a date
An expired name is not lost straight away. For its grace period, 28 days for an ENSv2 name or 90 for a name still on ENSv1, anyone can still renew it at the normal price and nobody else can register it. See Expiry & grace period.
Common questions
Will ENS remind me before a name expires?
Yes, once you sign in to the ENS App: expiry notifications show there. You can also choose to get them by email, Telegram or browser notification. See Notifications and expiry alerts.
Can someone take my name the moment it expires?
No. Nobody else can register it during its grace period.
Is there any downside to renewing early?
No. Renewing adds time to the existing expiry date, so nothing is wasted.
