What you're seeing | What it means | Go to |
Address record rejected for BSC, BNB, AVAX, or another chain | The ENS App uses EVM-compatible chain names, not token names | Other-chain address errors (below) |
My NFT doesn't appear in the avatar picker | The picker only lists NFTs on Ethereum Mainnet | Avatar picker only lists Ethereum NFTs (below) |
Wallet won't connect to edit, or the save transaction never broadcasts | Wallet-connection issue
Save transaction is stuck or pending in the wallet | Transaction issue, not a profile-edit issue
Avatar changed, but my wallet or OpenSea still shows the old one | Display cache, not a profile-edit issue |
Good to know
When adding an address for a chain other than Ethereum, search the ENS App's chain dropdown for the EVM-compatible chain name (like BSC or AVAXC), not the consumer token name (like BNB or AVAX). Your wallet may label the same chain by its token name, so the names can look mismatched even though they refer to the same network.
The avatar picker is Ethereum-only. NFTs on other chains aren't selectable from the dropdown, but you can always use the Upload Image option to set the same picture.
The ENS App only handles
.ethnames and onchain subnames. For project subnames likebase.ethoruni.eth, use the project's own site.
Other-chain address errors
If the ENS App keeps rejecting your address, you're probably searching the chain dropdown for the chain's token instead of its chain name.
Binance Smart Chain β search BSC (Binance Smart Chain), not BNB (Binance Chain).
Avalanche β search AVAXC for Avalanche's EVM-compatible chain.
Pick the right entry, paste the address in the correct format for that chain, and save.
Avatar picker only lists Ethereum NFTs
The avatar picker only lists NFTs on Ethereum Mainnet. If your NFT is on Polygon, Base, or another chain, it won't appear in the dropdown.
Use Upload Image instead:
Save the NFT's image file to your device.
In the avatar picker, click Upload Image and upload the file.
Save the profile change.
