Edit your ENS profile

Add or change your profile in the ENS App: bio, social links, wallet addresses, avatar, banner and theme.

Your ENS profile is what apps show for your name: your avatar, bio, social links and the wallet addresses you get paid at. Everything on it is public.

You edit it in the ENS App at app.ens.domains, the everyday way to manage names. For more control, see Edit your name's records (ENS Explorer).

You need the wallet that owns the name, connected (see Connect a wallet), and a little ETH for network fees (gas).

Edit your profile

  1. Open a name you own and select Edit Profile. If you can't, see Why can't I edit my profile?

  2. Pick a tab: General, Contact, Addresses, Links, Appearance or Other records.

  3. Select a chip to add that field, then fill it in. To remove a value, select its chip again.

  4. Select Preview, then Publish changes.

  5. Approve the transaction in your wallet.

Common questions

How do I add a social link?

Open the Contact tab and select the platform's chip under Social, such as Twitter. Type your handle without the @. For any other link, open the Links tab, select Add more, and give it a title and a URL.

How do I add wallet addresses for other chains?

Open the Addresses tab. Enter your Ethereum address if there isn't one yet, then add the chains you want. Chains that work like Ethereum (EVM chains), such as Base and Arbitrum, use that same address. For a chain that isn't EVM, such as Bitcoin, enter that chain's address.

How do I add an avatar or banner?

Open the General tab and select Add a profile picture. Upload an image, choose an NFT or paste a link. An upload asks you to sign a message in your wallet, which costs no gas. For the banner, select Add a banner image.

How do I change my theme colour?

Open the Appearance tab and pick one of the five themes.

How do I undo changes before I save?

Select Cancel, or Discard on the preview. Nothing is saved until you select Publish changes and approve in your wallet.

Why can't I edit my profile?

If the name is still on ENSv1, upgrade it first: see Upgrade your name to ENSv2. If the name has expired and is in its grace period, renew it first: see Renew a name.

Where does my banner show?

Your banner is saved as a public record on your name, so other apps can read it. Whether another app shows it is up to that app.

My avatar or social links look blank after upgrading. Why?

Upgrading keeps your name's text records and addresses. Open the name in ENS Explorer and check its Records section. If a record is missing there, add it again with Edit Profile.

How do I add a website, ABI or custom record?

Open the Other records tab. Fill in Content hash or Contract ABI (JSON), or select Add custom record.

Why do I see Set up resolver instead of Edit Profile?

Your name's records are kept on a resolver. Set up resolver means the name has none yet: select it to give the name one your wallet controls, then edit as normal. Replace & edit records means your wallet can't edit the current one: selecting it moves the name to a resolver your wallet controls, and only the records you edit are kept.

Who can see my profile?

Anyone. Records live on the blockchain, so anyone who looks up your name can read them. See Is my ENS name private?

What is each record for?
