How to extend a name

How to renew names.

Registered ENS names (or expired names in grace period) can be extended at any time by any wallet address. On app.ens.domains, you can extend a name's registration:

  • by years

  • by date

How to extend a name

1. Navigate to a names profile page and click 'Extend'

Go to the ENS Manager App and connect with your wallet. Search for the name you would like to renew and click on it to view its profile page. Click the 'Extend' button.

2. Review warning (if applicable)

If you do not own this name you will be prompted with a warning. If you think you own this name, double check you are connected with the correct wallet and double check the owner address. Click 'I Understand' to proceed.

Extending this name will extend the current owner's registration length. This will not give you ownership of it."

3. Select Duration to extend

Option 3a. Pick by Years

Pick the number of years you would like to extend the name’s registration. Click “Next”, then “Open Wallet” to confirm the transaction.

Option 3b: Pick by Date

If you want to pick based on a date, click 'Pick by Date', which will change the panel to a date selection option.

Then click the calendar icon and select your preferred expiry. After you have selected the date, review and click 'Next'.

4. Open Wallet & confirm onchain.

Review the details of extend registration, then click 'Open Wallet' and confirm onchain.

Once the transaction is completed. Refresh the page and view the new expiry date.
